Support to renew or revive
hall of fame story by Brian Zelley
Once upon a time there was an active CANADIAN
BOXING HALL OF FAME, but over the years it is
a mystery on who operates it, where it is
and more important who are all the past inductess in the
various categories. logic will tell us that many fine
folks have been named but their achievements are gathering dust.
Some good news, is the desire to have a brand new
CANADIAN BOXING HALL OF FAME with a fresh new name
with support from across Canada.
MANY NAMES TO CONSIDER
In selecting hundreds of folks that should be in
a Canadian Boxing Hall of Fame, some of the obvious ones
are those former world champions such and Tommy Burns,
Lou Brouillard, George Dixon and Jimmy McLarnin, but
there are many others to consider throughout the decades.
Al Ford, Al Sparks, Armand Savoie, Art Hafey, Arturo Gatti,
Billy Irwin, Billy McGrandle, Billy Townsend, Blair Richardson,
Bob Cleroux, Burke Emery, Clyde Gray, Chris Clarke, Dale Brown,
Dale Walters, Donato Paduano, Earl Walls, George Chuvalo, Les Gillis,
Leslie Borden, Nick Furlano, and Wilfie Greaves. But then, there was
the great uncrowned champion SAM LANGFORD known as the Boston Tar Baby.
